Spiez Castle

Spiez Castle stands above the harbour, with vineyards on one side and Lake Thun on the other. The site combines a medieval keep, furnished historic rooms, a small museum, gardens, and one of the best views over the bay.

It is the town's anchor sight and worth visiting even if you are only changing trains. Climb the tower if it is open, then walk down to the pier for the full lake-and-mountain effect.

A story
The castle church beside the keep preserves one of the oldest sacred sites on Lake Thun, while later rooms tell the story of noble families who controlled the bay. Its tower view is the quick way to understand why Spiez appears on so many Swiss railway posters.
