Getting Around

Vorokhta is a small town and most of it is walkable. The main road follows the Prut River through the settlement, and the wooden houses, homestays, and the church are all within easy walking distance of each other. The railway station is at the eastern end of town, also reachable on foot.

For the ski resort at Avanhard, a short taxi or marshrutka ride gets you from the town centre to the lift base. Taxis are cheap by Western European standards and the drivers know the area well — they can also be hired for day trips to trailheads and viewpoints.

The Hoverla trailhead is roughly 15–20 kilometres from town. Most hikers take a taxi or arrange a transfer through their accommodation. There is no scheduled public transport to the trailhead. Private minibus services operate in summer, picking up from the town centre in the morning and returning in the afternoon.

There is no car hire in Vorokhta itself. If you want to explore the wider Chornohora range by road, it is better to hire a car in Ivano-Frankivsk before arriving.
