Chernihiv is 130 kilometres north of Kyiv. Direct trains from Kyiv Central Station run several times daily and take about 3 hours (some express services are faster). By bus the journey from Kyiv is about 2.5–3 hours. By car, take the M01 highway north from Kyiv.
The train station is about 2 kilometres from Val Hill; take a taxi or marshrutka into the centre. There is no commercial airport in Chernihiv.
Note that Chernihiv was directly affected by the 2022 Russian invasion and was under siege for several weeks before Ukrainian forces liberated it. Check current travel conditions and available services before planning a visit.
