Maxim Gorky Central Park is Kharkiv's big urban playground, spread across more than 130 hectares north of the centre. Opened in 1907, it has long been the city's place for promenades, children's rides, public celebrations, and summer evenings under the trees.
The park mixes ordinary green space with amusement rides, a small railway, a cable railway, tennis courts, and places to eat. It is at its best when locals are out in force, because the point here is as much Kharkiv life as any single attraction.
