In peacetime, Kherson had a railway station on the Kyiv–Kherson line, with regular services from Kyiv (about 8 hours), Odesa (3–4 hours), and Mykolaiv (1.5 hours). The city also had an airport (KHE), though it served limited domestic routes. By road, Kherson sits on the main highway between Mykolaiv and Crimea.
