The Kherson Regional Art Museum housed one of the largest art collections in southern Ukraine, with over 13,000 works covering Ukrainian painting from the 18th century to the present day, plus European prints and graphic art. The collection was particularly strong in 19th-century Ukrainian landscape and genre painting.
The museum's building on Horishnia Street is a handsome late 19th-century structure typical of the prosperous merchant city Kherson once was. The theft of artworks during the occupation and the ongoing conflict have significantly affected the institution — verify current opening status before visiting.
