Andriyivskyy Descent is a steep cobbled street winding down from the Upper Town to the historic Podil district. It has long been associated with artists, writers, and bohemian life — the writer Mikhail Bulgakov grew up here and the street is lined with his house museum alongside galleries, antique shops, and craft stalls. At the top stands Saint Andrew's Church, a Baroque masterpiece designed by Bartolomeo Rastrelli in the 1750s, sited on one of the finest viewpoints in the city.
