The burial place of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov is the centre of Uman's Hasidic pilgrimage. Rabbi Nachman spent the end of his life here and asked to be buried in the city, making Uman one of the most important places in the Breslov world.
Around Rosh Hashanah the area changes dramatically as pilgrims arrive from abroad and across Ukraine. Outside that period it is quieter, but the site still explains a major part of Uman's modern identity.
