The Transcarpathian Bokshai Museum of Art is Uzhhorod’s main art museum, housed in the former county administration building near the old centre. Its collection is strongest on artists from Transcarpathia, a region whose cultural life has been shaped by Hungarian, Ukrainian, Slovak, and Central European currents.
That regional focus is the reason to go. The museum helps Uzhhorod feel less like a border-town footnote and more like a place with its own school of landscape, portraiture, and modern art. It pairs well with the castle and the former synagogue nearby.
