Castle Hill is a small public garden on the bank above the Kamenka River, marking the area where Zhytomyr's old castle once stood. The fortress was mentioned in medieval sources and was destroyed and rebuilt more than once.
Today the draw is quieter: a bit of green space, traces of the old defensive setting, and a useful walk between the city's churches and museums.
