St. Michael's Cathedral is a compact but important 19th-century church in the city centre. It is one of Zhytomyr's older stone religious buildings and pairs well with the larger Transfiguration Cathedral nearby.
The appeal is partly architectural and partly urban: it sits in the middle of the everyday city, where Zhytomyr's historic fabric mixes with shops, traffic, and civic buildings.
