Getting There

Leicester sits at the junction of the M1 and M69 motorways and is around 100 miles north of London by road. By rail, East Midlands Railway runs frequent trains from London St Pancras International (around 1 hour 15 minutes), making it one of the more accessible provincial cities for a day trip. Birmingham is 40–50 minutes by train on the same line, and Nottingham is about 40 minutes on regional services.

Leicester doesn't have an airport of its own. The nearest international airports are Birmingham (about 45 minutes by car or rail) and East Midlands Airport at Castle Donington (around 25 minutes by car, with a bus connection).

The train and bus stations are both close to the city centre. St Margaret's Bus Station serves national coaches including National Express. The railway station is a short walk from the historic core and the main museums.
