Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse is the best reason to range a few miles outside Dereham. The former workhouse tells a hard story about poverty and parish welfare, while the farm side broadens the visit into rural Norfolk life.
It is a fuller, slower museum than the town-centre stops. Families come for the farm and grounds; adults should leave time for the workhouse rooms and the social history behind them.
