Saxtead Green Post Mill sits a few miles north-west of Framlingham and makes a good countryside add-on if you have wheels. It is a preserved post mill, the old East Anglian type where the whole body of the mill turns to face the wind.
It is a small sight, but a good one: simple, local, and easy to combine with the castle rather than a destination by itself.
