Cudmore Grove Country Park sits at the eastern tip of Mersea Island, where low cliffs drop to a sandy beach looking out across the Colne Estuary. It is the quieter, wilder side of the island — saltmarshes, grassland, and views across to Brightlingsea. The park is good for birdwatching, especially waders and wildfowl, and the beach is less crowded than the West Mersea waterfront. The eroding cliffs have yielded Ice Age fossils including mammoth bones.
