The Company Shed is Mersea Island's legendary seafood shack on the West Mersea waterfront — a corrugated iron hut where you eat some of the freshest shellfish in England at bare wooden tables. The menu is native oysters, crab, lobster, prawns, and whatever else came in that morning. You bring your own bread, butter, and wine (there is a shop next door). There is almost always a queue, especially on weekends, and it is absolutely worth the wait. Cash only, no reservations.
