Dersingham Bog

A stone's throw east of Wolferton, Dersingham Bog is a small but biologically rich expanse of valley mire and lowland heath — one of the few surviving fragments of what was once a much larger landscape across the Norfolk coast. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature Reserve, looked after by Natural England.

Boardwalks cross the wettest parts so you can walk dry-shod through sphagnum, cotton-grass and sundew. In summer the heath above the bog is purple with heather and full of dragonflies; in winter the curlews and lapwings come down. There is a free car park at Scissors Cross and a short, well-marked trail; allow an hour for a circular walk.
