Wymondham Abbey

Wymondham Abbey began as a 12th-century Benedictine priory and still feels large for the size of the town. Its two towers are the giveaway: one belonged to the monastic church, the other to the parish church that survived the Reformation. Inside, look for the painted roof, the sense of layered history, and the odd balance between ruin and working parish church.
