Bridge House is the absurdly small stone building straddling Stock Beck in the middle of Ambleside. It has been used as a shop, a summer house, and a curiosity, and now mostly serves as proof that the Lake District can make even a traffic pinch point look picturesque.
You will pass it without trying, but stop for a minute. The building is more charming than important, and that is fine: Ambleside needs a landmark that fits in a photograph without asking you to climb a fell first.
