Loughrigg Fell is one of the gentlest and most loved hills in the Lake District. The Loughrigg Terrace, which traverses the hill above Rydal Water, is one of the easiest and most rewarding strolls in the area, with beautiful views over Grasmere and down to Elterwater. The summit is surprisingly rough and confusing, though, and the ascent should not be treated with contempt -- save it for a clear day to enjoy the views.
