Dishoom

Bombay-style Irani cafe famous for its overnight black dal

Modelled on the old Irani cafes of Bombay, Dishoom serves some of the best Indian food in London: the black dal (cooked overnight for 24 hours) is famous for good reason, the bacon naan rolls at breakfast are worth the queue, and the lamb chops are excellent. There are several branches; the original in Covent Garden and the Shoreditch branch are the most atmospheric. Expect queues — they don't take reservations for dinner.
