The Hartlepool Art Gallery occupies Christ Church, a striking Victorian building on Church Square with a tall spire that doubles as a viewing platform. The collection is small — Victorian seascapes, work by local artists, occasional touring shows — but the conversion is well done and the building alone is worth fifteen minutes.
Climb the tower for the best high-level view of the town and the bay; entry is free, donations welcome.
