Things to Do

Crawley is not a destination in the conventional sense, but it has more to offer than its airport-adjacent reputation suggests. The Old Town predates the new town by centuries — a genuine medieval High Street with timber-framed buildings and old pubs that survived the 1950s development intact. Worth Church is one of the finest surviving Saxon churches in England, dating to around 950 AD. Tilgate Park offers good walking, a lake, and a nature centre. For a half-day excursion, Nymans Garden near Handcross is one of the National Trust's best gardens in the south-east.
