Ramsgate is 75 minutes from London by high-speed train, making it an easy day trip from the capital.
By train: Southeastern's high-speed service runs from London St Pancras International to Ramsgate, taking around 75–80 minutes with some services requiring a change at Faversham or Ashford. Standard trains from London Victoria via Chatham take around 100 minutes. Ramsgate station is about a 10-minute walk from the harbour.
By car: From London, take the M2 and then the A299 (Thanet Way) to Ramsgate, approximately 90 minutes without traffic. Parking is available in several car parks near the harbour and beach.
Ferry: Ramsgate formerly had a ferry service to Ostend and other Continental ports that made it a significant cross-Channel hub; this service no longer operates. The nearest current ferry crossings are from Dover (about 25 minutes by car) to Calais, or from Folkestone via the Channel Tunnel.
