Ramsgate Maritime Museum

The Ramsgate Maritime Museum occupies the restored Clock House on the inner harbour and covers the maritime history of East Kent, from medieval trade to the Dunkirk evacuation. The museum holds a collection of charts, ship models, navigational instruments, and local fishing equipment, and includes a dedicated section on the role Ramsgate played in Operation Dynamo — the 1940 evacuation of Allied troops from Dunkirk beaches, for which the town's harbour served as a key embarkation point for the Little Ships.

The collection is not large, but the building is handsome and the harbour setting gives the museum a context that display cases alone cannot provide. Open most of the year on weekend afternoons and in summer daily; check current hours before visiting as the museum is volunteer-staffed and opening times vary. Free admission with a small donation requested.
