Twickenham has more to offer than its rugby stadium suggests. The Thames-side stretch between here and Richmond is genuinely beautiful, and several of England's finest small historic houses — Marble Hill, Orleans House, Strawberry Hill — cluster within easy walking distance along the riverbank. The Eel Pie Island story adds a rock and roll footnote that most visitors don't expect.
