Getting Around

Blandford Forum is a small market town and almost everything of interest is within easy walking distance of the market place. The compact Georgian centre takes no more than 15–20 minutes to cross on foot. There is no local bus network within the town itself.

On foot: The town centre is entirely walkable. The River Stour and its meadows are a short walk from the market place. The Stour Valley Path passes through town and offers waymarked walking both upstream and downstream.

By car: A car is more or less essential for exploring the surrounding countryside — the Cranborne Chase, the Tarrant Valley, and nearby villages like Shaftesbury are all straightforward to reach by car but awkward by public transport.

Cycling: The lanes of the Stour Valley and Cranborne Chase are popular with cyclists. Blandford Forum sits on National Cycle Network Route 25, which runs through the Stour Valley.

There are no taxis based in the town itself, though local firms operate from nearby towns.
