The Stour Valley Path is a long-distance walking route that follows the River Stour for much of its length through Dorset and into Hampshire. The sections passing through and around Blandford Forum are among the most accessible for a short walk: the meadows along the riverbank just south of town are pleasant and easy going, with views back up to the Georgian roofline. You can walk upstream toward Bryanston or downstream toward Charlton Marshall for a few miles without needing to retrace your steps. The path is also used by cyclists and is part of National Cycle Network Route 25.
