Antique Shops

Stow-on-the-Wold is one of England's most concentrated antique-dealing centres, with around forty dealers operating in and around the town — a remarkable number for a place with a population of two thousand. The shops are clustered around the market square and along Sheep Street and Church Street, ranging from individual dealers with a single room to the large Stow Antiques Centre which houses multiple traders under one roof.

The stock runs from Georgian furniture and silver to Victorian ceramics, vintage textiles, and militaria. Prices tend to be realistic rather than London-gallery inflated, and the dealers are generally knowledgeable and not pushy. It's a good place to browse even if you're not planning to buy anything substantial — the contents of these shops form an accidental museum of English domestic life across three centuries.
