Foxholes

Quiet ancient woodland reserve on the Cotswold edge near Stow-on-the-Wold

Foxholes is a Woodland Trust reserve of old Cotswold woodland, with beech, ash, hazel coppice, and spring flowers in the lighter clearings. It is not a grand set-piece attraction, but it gives Stow-on-the-Wold a useful nature escape beyond antiques and market-town streets.

Come for a slow walk rather than facilities. Paths can be muddy after rain, and the place is at its best in bluebell season or on a clear autumn day when the woods feel properly removed from the road.
