Tewkesbury has no rail station — the historic station closed in 1962 and the town is now served only by buses. The most practical approach by public transport is to take a train to Cheltenham Spa (about 10 kilometres south) or Gloucester (about 16 kilometres south) and then a bus to Tewkesbury. Services are reasonably frequent on weekdays but thinner at weekends.
By car, Tewkesbury is just off the M5 (junction 9 for the A438) and is easy to reach from Cheltenham, Gloucester, Worcester, or the Midlands. Parking in the town centre can be tight in summer; the Abbey car park and several nearby sites offer pay-and-display spaces.
