Tewkesbury Museum

Tewkesbury Museum is a small community museum housed in a seventeenth-century building in the town centre. The collection covers the social history of Tewkesbury from the medieval period to the twentieth century, with particular strength on the Battle of Tewkesbury, the abbey, and the town's history as a river trading port.

The museum is run by volunteers and keeps modest opening hours, so it is worth checking in advance before making a special trip. When open, it is free to enter and the quality of the exhibits — particularly the material on the Wars of the Roses — is better than the modest exterior suggests.
