White Hart Inn

The White Hart Inn is the oldest pub in Hawes and sits in the centre of town on the main street. A traditional Yorkshire Dales pub with low ceilings, stone floors, and an open fire when the weather calls for it — which at 260 metres above sea level in upper Wensleydale is fairly often. It serves real ale and standard pub food; the portions are good and the prices are what you'd expect in a working Northern town rather than a tourist honeypot.

The pub fills up with a mix of locals, walkers doing the Pennine Way, and weekend visitors. It is comfortable and genuine rather than prettified for tourists, which puts it above most of its competitors in the dale. Main Street, Hawes.
