The Old Town is the historic heart of Hull, bounded by the Marina to the west, the River Hull to the east, and Queen's Gardens (built over the former Queen's Dock) to the north. Inside that triangle the medieval street plan survives almost intact, with narrow lanes — Land of Green Ginger, Bishop Lane, Scale Lane — running between merchant houses, old pubs, the Museums Quarter, and Hull Minster.
Most of Hull's free museums sit on High Street here, and the cobbles make for excellent strolling. The pubs are among the best in the city: Ye Olde White Harte, the George, and the Black Boy are all worth a stop. Trinity Market and the Fruit Market warehouse district on the southern edge have become Hull's main quarter for independent food and design.
