Drum Castle combines a 13th-century tower with later 17th- and 19th-century additions, making the building's long history easy to read in its walls. The estate also has gardens and woodland walks.
It is one of the stronger castle stops around Banchory, especially if paired with nearby Crathes Castle or a wider Royal Deeside day.
