Memsie Cairn

Bronze Age burial cairn standing alone in the fields south of Fraserburgh.

Memsie Cairn is a compact, rewarding prehistoric stop a short drive south of Fraserburgh. The cairn is the last substantial survivor of a larger burial landscape, and its rough stone mound still has enough scale to make the age of the place feel real rather than abstract.

There is no visitor centre and no need for one. Come for a quick detour from the coast, read the on-site interpretation, and take a few minutes to look across the low Aberdeenshire farmland that once held more cairns. It works best for travellers who like ancient sites without crowds or polish.
