Troup Head is a high, windy headland east of Gardenstown where seabirds crowd the cliffs above the North Sea. It is especially known for gannets, making it one of the best mainland alternatives to a boat trip for watching a busy seabird colony.
The place is wild rather than manicured. Paths can be exposed, and the reward is the full coastal spectacle: birds wheeling below, waves at the foot of the cliffs, and long views along the Banffshire coast.
