Dun Anlaimh is a crannog — an artificial island — in the shallow Loch nan Cinneachan, just off the road in the centre of the island. The remains of a stone causeway lead out from the shore to a small stone-walled enclosure on the islet.
Local tradition links it to a Norse chieftain called Anlaimh who is said to have been killed nearby in a battle that pushed the Vikings off Coll. The archaeology is harder to date, but the site fits a long Hebridean pattern of fortified loch dwellings used from the Iron Age into the medieval period. It is a five-minute walk from the road and a quiet place to sit on a still day.
