Duncansby Head

Duncansby Head is the north-eastern tip of mainland Great Britain, a short drive or coastal walk from John o'Groats. Its 1920s lighthouse is not the main event; the reason to come is the exposure, with the Pentland Firth running hard below and Orkney visible across the water.

The weather can change fast. Bring a windproof layer and stay well back from cliff edges, especially when the grass is wet.
