Keills Chapel and Cross

A medieval chapel and early Christian carved stones on the Knapdale coast south of Lochgilphead

Keills Chapel and Cross stand on the Knapdale coast, preserving a small medieval chapel and an important group of early Christian carved stones. The site feels remote and elemental: stone, grass, sea air, and the long religious history of Argyll's west-facing shores.

It is far enough from Lochgilphead to be a deliberate side trip, but the quality of the carved stones and coastal setting justify the detour for travellers exploring Kilmartin, Tayvallich, or the Crinan area. Go for atmosphere as much as architecture.
