Priorwood Garden, run by the National Trust for Scotland, is a small walled garden tucked behind the abbey and unique in Britain for being devoted to flowers grown specifically for drying. Forty different beds produce strawflowers, statice, hydrangeas, and dozens of other species selected for how they hold their colour and shape after harvest.
The garden also has an orchard with more than 90 historic apple varieties, many of them Scottish heritage cultivars rescued from disappearance. There is a small shop selling dried-flower wreaths and arrangements made on site. Free with NTS membership; open March to October.
