The Falls of Clyde are a chain of waterfalls upstream from New Lanark, reached on a path through the Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve. A short walk follows the river into a steep wooded gorge, where the falls are mixed with mill history, hydroelectric works, and old viewpoints.
Corra Linn is the highest drop, and the valley is also known for wildlife including peregrine falcons, otters, and dippers working the rocks along the river. Water levels vary — the falls are best after rain — but the walk is worthwhile even when they are not at full force.
