Pennan Inn

The village's only pub, also its only restaurant, also a guesthouse

The Pennan Inn is the village's sole pub, restaurant, and accommodation provider, and it featured prominently in Local Hero along with the phone box outside. That gives it a pleasant layer of film-set nostalgia on top of its role as the practical anchor of village life.

The food is honest pub fare — soups, seafood, grills — cooked competently and served without ceremony. The bar is a good place to sit with a whisky and watch the sea through the windows. The inn also has a small gallery space attached. It is the only place in Pennan to eat or drink, and if it is closed you will need to drive to Gardenstown or New Aberdour. Check in advance, particularly outside summer.
