Tain Museum and the St Duthac church complex are the best way into the town's older story. The museum covers Easter Ross, Clan Ross, Pictish stones, local silverwork, and the pilgrimage tradition that made Tain important long before whisky tours and the North Coast 500.
St Duthac's Collegiate Church stands in the same historic cluster. It was once a major northern pilgrimage site, visited by Scottish kings, and gives the town centre more weight than its size suggests.
