Old Pulteney Distillery has been part of Wick since 1826, when the planned harbour town of Pulteneytown was still booming on herring. The whisky's salty, coastal branding is easy to mock until you stand this close to the North Sea and the old harbour streets.
Tours run from the visitor centre on Huddart Street. Book ahead, especially if you are passing through on the North Coast 500.
