Wick Heritage Museum is the place that makes the town make sense. Its rooms cover the herring boom, domestic life, fishing gear, photographs, and the restored Isabella Fortuna, a Fifie fishing boat built in 1890.
It is local and old-fashioned in the best way: dense, volunteer-run, and full of things that would be lost in a slicker museum. Check the seasonal opening dates before planning around it.
