Cwmystwyth Mines

Stark upland remains of one of Wales's most important old metal-mining sites.

Cwmystwyth is not polished heritage. It is a scarred mining landscape in a high valley east of Devil's Bridge, with old workings and ruins set against bare hills.

That roughness is the point. The site gives the surrounding countryside a harder history than the gorge walk alone suggests, and it makes a strong short stop if you are driving deeper into the Cambrian Mountains.
