Llanberis is primarily a base for Snowdon, but the village has its own set of excellent attractions: a free national museum in the old quarry workshops, a ruined medieval castle, a pumped-storage power station you can tour underground, and a narrow-gauge steam railway along the lakeside. On a bad weather day when the mountain is closed in, you are not short of options.
