Cat Island moves at its own pace. The main draws are the beaches, the diving, and the short hike to the Hermitage on Mount Alvernia — but mostly people come here to switch off. The island is 77 km long and rarely more than 5 km wide, with small settlements strung along the main road and beaches that see almost no one on the Atlantic side.
