Getting There

Corozal sits on the Northern Highway, the main road between Belize City and the Mexican border at Santa Elena (Chetumal). It is one of the easier Belizean towns to reach.

By bus. Frequent buses run from Belize City — three and a half to four hours via Orange Walk, with regular departures throughout the day. Buses arrive at the small Corozal terminal a few blocks back from the waterfront. The border at Santa Elena is 15 km north; minibuses and shared taxis run from Corozal to the crossing every half hour or so.

From Mexico. The Chetumal–Corozal hop is straightforward: combi minibuses run between Chetumal's central bus terminal and Corozal across the day, with a stop at the border for immigration formalities. The whole trip takes about 90 minutes including the border.

By plane. Tropic Air and Maya Island Air both run several daily flights between Corozal Municipal Airport and the cayes (San Pedro on Ambergris Caye), about 20 minutes each way — a popular short hop that avoids the long road and water transfer via Belize City.

By boat. The Thunderbolt fast boat used to run between Corozal and San Pedro daily; check current schedules locally as the service has been intermittent in recent years.
